NEW DELHI: Kolkata outfit United SC open their account in the U-19 I-League 2014/15 as they take on Mohun Bagan at the Kalyani Stadium on Saturday, December 13, in the first match from the Kolkata Zone.

THE TEAMS AT A GLANCE:

MOHUN BAGAN U-19

Training Routine: The U-19 boys are the part of Mohun Bagan SAIL Football Academy which is totally residential. These players have the facilities of the training throughout the year. From the last seven days, the Chief Coach of the Academy, Douglas Silva has been giving the stress on the game situation, set piece and match practice.

The prominent players (who’ve scored goals in previous games):

Lalrem Ruata (1 goal against East Bengal U-19 and 2 goals in All India Chandigarh Administrative Cup,2013 )

Pintu Mahata, Nitin Jyal: two promising midfielders of the team.

Training venues: Regular practice in Academy ground and also at DSP Nehru Stadium in Durgapur 5 days in a week.

Home Match venue: Mohun Bagan Club Ground, Kolkata Maidan

Practice Matches: Last week the team played a practice match against the local team DYMA Football Club in Durgapur, securing a 4-0 win.

UNITED SC

Training Routine: According to the Club, the players are consistently apprised regarding “laws of the game” and also the Club’s strict guideline on “maintenance of disciplines” both on and off the field. They are also given regular updates on doping (including masking and list of ban substances)  by the team doctor.

Training Venue: Kalyani Stadium (B Ground).

Home Match venue: Kalyani Stadium

Quote from Madhusudhan Majumder (Head Coach): “We are looking forward for performing well & win the U-19 I-League 2014-15. Since our team plays mainly “Positional game”,  the main focus in every practice session is  “ball control” & “correct passing”.”

Practice matches played: The boys played their first practice match on December 9 against Kalyani Municipality, where the latter were defeated 3-1.

Previous U-19 I-League Record: USC U-19 came second from the Kolkata Zone, and missed qualification to the final round by a whisker.
