NEW DELHI: Goals from Kamalpreet Singh Grewal and Robinson Singh in either half gave the AIFF Elite Academy a crucial 2-0 win; they needed to shoot ahead of their visitor Sporting Clube De Goa in the round three of U 19 I-league played at Cuncolim ground, Goa on 23rd December 2014.

Sporting Clube de Goa, after their bizarre result against SESA FA got them peckish in search of points and made their plan very clear from the off, parade of thoroughness in the defence by Souvik Das and Quan Gomes for SCG kept the game at rigorous pace and robust.

The gritty runs on the right by the AIFF Elite Academy’s No 22 Kamalpreet Singh and the overlapping stint by Nishu Kumar tear-opened the defensive shape of SCG in the early exchanges. Kamalpreet Singh did the damage with a flying header whistling past the rival keeper on Nishu Kumar’s splendid cross.

In all, the game was intense and the temper of the game notched the spectator tumultuous from the balconies. The outcome to the first half could have been either way, but it was the AIFF EA who were most clinical; with skipper Daniel Lalhlimpuia’s effort went agonisingly wide off the post from a measured set-up by Rakesh Oram just before a minute into the break.

At the half-time the score was 1-0.

After the restart, SCG’s need being greater, they pushed harder thereafter, with Jarmanjit Singh involved in a heat exchange after snarling AIFF’s Milan Basumatary. Sporting offered a little more resistance, with Sumit Gosh doing his best to tee up substitute James Fernandes but only to hit the side net.

The persistence and composure in defence did not last long for SCG and the AIFF colts took the full benefit of that and by no means bowed back; as they launched A series of attack in a quick succession with a spectacular cross from right back and layoff by Rakesh Oram conspired to drop the ball at feet of Hayden Fernandes’s, the mid-fielder thumped a well-timed volley rattling the wood-work.

The master Piece was delivered at 81st Minute from Robinson Singh with his Second consecutive and identical volley; added the salt to the wounds. The AIFF Elite Academy continues to stay on the top of the point table with three wins in three matches.
