NEW DELHI: Sporting Clube de Goa have injected some young Goan blood into their squad after registering Alber Gonsalves and Glan Martins for the Hero I-League, in Panjim, on Tuesday, March 17.

After joining from Sesa Football Academy in the summer, the 20-year-old Glan made four appearances for the Flaming Oranje in the Goa Pro League. After suffering an injury Glan worked hard in training to force his way back in to the Coach’s plans.

“Glan is a good defensive midfield player, who has the ability to win the ball and unlock opposing defences with his ball distribution,” remarked Sporting Clube de Goa Head Coach Mathew D’Costa.

Alber who turns 25 this month, netted five times for Sesa Football Academy in the first round (nine matches) of the Goa Pro League, which caught the attention of the Sporting Goa management. He has been training with the club for the last three months and has shown promise.

“Alber is most constructive on the wing, where he can use his pace to burst forward and cross or is equally dangerous cutting in and having a shot at goal,” explained Mathew.
