GOA: Sporting Clube is all set to take on Curtorim Gymkhana in the Goa Pro league match at Duler Stadium on Saturday at 4 PM. This match will be a battle between extreme ends of the table with Sporting sitting right at the top of it managing 23 points from 11 outings while Curtorim languishing at the bottom yet to open their account. With other teams in the reach of Sporting having some tricky fixtures this round, the Flaming Oranje will look at this as an opportunity to harness the momentum and consolidate the top spot.

Sporting however will be coming into this match without some of their key players. The Sporting’s talisman Odafa Okolie who has been instrumental in the previous fixtures will be forced to watch the match from the stands as he will out serving his one match suspension due to bookings picked up from the previous fixture. The Flaming Oranje will also lack the services of Cajetan Fernandes at the back and Creson Antao in the mid as both will be rested due to minor injuries.

When asked about the same Sporting Head Coach Mathew Costa said “They need some rest, they have been playing every single match at 100% commitment level, and we would not like to risk even the slightest chance of aggravating any injury to them.”

He further said “This also can be a good opportunity for some new players to prove a point; we have good depth in our squad. I have been watching the boys closely in the training and everyone deserves to play.”

When asked about the preparation for this match Mathew said “We will not take Curtorim lightly, they have some good players. Our boys have trained well we would just like to get out the same performance on Saturday. “

“We will be aiming for nothing less than 3 points, this is a very competitive league and we cannot count anyone out. We would be taking this match just like any other matches we have played, if we give it our best and play to our potential am sure we can affirm our current position.” said Mathew.
