GOA: Sporting Clube de Goa finished their Hero I-league campaign on a high as they beat Salgaocar FC 3-0 with goals from Pratesh Shirodkar (6’), Sumeet Passi (30’) and Victorino Fernandes (83’).

Sporting made just two changes to their side that drew against Kingfisher East Bengal, with Sumeet Passi and Joseph Clemente making into the team for Odafa Okolie and suspended Mehrajudin Wadoo.

Santosh Kashyap made as many as five changes as Éder, Reagan Singh, Thangjam Singh, Martin Scott, Aslon Oliveira and Manandeep Singh make way for Gurjinder Kumar, Augustin Fernandes, Rocus Lamare, Darryl Duffy and Semboi Haokip.

The opening stages of the game were dominated by the away side and their efforts were rewarded with a peach of a result as Pratesh Shirodkar scored one from 25-yards out. Karanjit Singh palmed away Rowllin Borges’ corner which fell kindly for the medio who put his laces through it leaving the Salgaocar goalie flat-footed.
The only chance of the half for Salgaocar FC came in the 16th minute as Clencio Pinto took a shot at goal on the volley from within the box, but his shot hit the side-netting.

Amidst Sporting’s domination and constant pressure on Salgacoar FC, Sumeet Passi added to the scoreline making it 2-0 to the away side. Rowllin Borges played a delightful diagonal pass to spot the run of Nicholas Fernandes who passed it to Passi on the penalty spot and the forward made no mistake.

The next chance of the game came 2 minutes to the break as Ganesh Thakur’s ball from the right reached the leap of Nicholas Fernandes, but the latter could not turn his body in time to head the ball in.

At the half-time, Sporting lead 2-0 and deserved every bit of the scoreline.

The Flaming Oranje began the second half just the way the ended the first, holding large parts of possession and dictating the pace of the play.

Martin Scott was brought on for the debutant Clencio, however, his introduction did not make much of an impact.
In the 72th minute, after Sumeet Passi took a shot at goal from a tight angle in the box. The shot came at the end of a fantastic move by the away side and nearly had Karanjit worried.

Victorino Fernandes came on to triple their lead in the 83rd minute. The forward did exceedingly well to turn in the box onto his left foot to curl it past Karanjit. The move summed up all the action of the evening.

At the blow of the final whistle, it ended 3-0 to the visiting Sporting Clube de Goa. Peter Vaz’s side finish at the fourth position in the Hero I-League 2015/16.
