Sony Norde is all set for a return to the City of Joy, after Kolkata giants, Mohun Bagan announced him as their latest signing for the upcoming season.
Norde, who is a favourite among the Bagan faithful, bid a tearful adieu to the club last season, after suffering a longstanding injury. After a long layoff, however, the man who began the 2017-18 I-League season as club captain has made a return to the Kolkata Maidan.
“With immense pleasure, I wish to announce that Mohun Bagan has completed the signing with Mr. Sony Norde for 2018-19 football season.  He is in Miami and will apply for his employment visa by today for which the necessary formalities are being addressed,” said the Green and Maroons’ director Swapan Sadhan (Tutu) Bose.
“He has agreed to undergo the required medical and physical fitness test upon his arrival in Kolkata. He will be registered with The Indian Football Association (WB) after successful completion of medical and physical fitness test,” Bose further said in a statement.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the two Directors Srinjoy Bose & Debashis Dutta for their effort in finalising the contract with Sony. I would also like to thank Arnab Mukherjee who was in constant touch with Club and Sony,” he said.
Apart from being one of their best players over the course of the last few seasons, Sony Norde the Haitian winger also earned acclaim on the national level, when he won the Hero of the League award in the 2015-16 season.
