SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC and Royal Wahingdoh FC played out a goalless draw in the return fixture of the Under 18 I-League 2015 encounter at the JN Stadium Shillong on Wednesday morning.
The first half started off brightly for Lajong who were eyeing on another win after beating Gauhati FC by 9 goals. The Youngsters of Lajong pressed hard to find the opening goal in the first half but were not lucky enough to convert their chances.
Royal Wahingdoh FC were also giving Lajong a tough fight from the defence line and working hard to create chances in front. They managed to get a shot on target when a long shot taken by a defender after the corner, hit the bar and just tipped over.
Both teams came back in the second half eager to get the better off the other. Lajong continued to dominate possession but they lacked quality in the final third. Royal Wahingdoh FC were defending very well with the keeper maintaining good positions to save the shots fired by Lajong youngsters. Lajong were clearly the more attacking team in the second half with numerous chances to score goals. Lajong’s Goalkeeper was hardly threatened throughout the match and in the end; it was a good day for the goalkeepers of both teams as they managed to earn a clean sheet each with more saves made by the Royal Wahingdoh FC custodian.
Lajong juniors will play their next match against SAI Guwahati on 08th December 2015.
