GOA: Salgaocar FC will be launching the 3^rd edition of the Community Outreach Program at the Chicalim Panchayat Ground on Sunday, 18^th October 2015 and is scheduled to extend until March 2016. The club’s coaches, first team and junior players have over the course of the past few weeks visited most of the schools in their home town of Vasco and conducted soccer clinics to create awareness about the program. The club have received an overwhelming response to the program with numbers exceeding 500 since Registrations opened under 2 weeks ago.

The program was launched in 2013-14 and has been very well received by children and parents alike. Children from Ponda, Margao and Panjim are enrolled in the program, testimony to the popularity of the program. This stems from the fact that Salgaocar FC are the only club in Goa to have a year-long program that caters to children in the age group of 6-11. The kids undergo training every Sunday under the eyes of the club’s highly qualified and experienced coaches and first team players.

Given that the children look up to some of the first team players as role models and watch them in action when taken to the club’s home Hero I-League games, it is extremely motivational for them to turn up every Sunday and share the field with their heroes.

Last year Salgaocar FC clinched third Durand Cup title, and the club chose to extend the celebrations to the Community Program with the entire winning squad in attendance and the trophies kept on display at the venue on the Sunday immediately following the triumph.

The basics of the ‘beautiful game’ are imparted to these budding footballers using techniques that are both fun and engrossing. The most talented boys are offered the opportunity to join the club’s renowned youth development system.

The club will also be launching it’s official fan merchandise on the opening day of the Community Program.
