SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC rode on a Nabachandra Singh hat trick to drub Langsning FC 4-0 in a Shillong Premier League match at the JN Stadium, Shillong on Wednesday.

It was Loken Meitei (11’) who opened the scoring for the Royals and as Nabachandra (41’, 56’, 76’) got into the act there was no looking back for the I-League side which notched up its best SPL win of the season so far.

The Royals started on a dominant note and went into lead as early as the 11th minute. A Samananda Singh free kick found Ngouba Singh on the left. The latter breezed forward and crossed one to spot Milancy Khongstia inside the box. Milancy tapped one to Loken Meitei who sent a curling shot sinking into the nets.

RWFC kept the dominance intact and struck once again five minutes before the break. This time too it was Loken who set up the goal for Nabachandra with a fine through ball from the deep. With only the goalie and a defender to beat Nabachandra converted with ease to double the lead for the Royals.

If the Royals had dominated the first half, the second saw them intensify the pressure further. There was no respite for the Langsning side which was pushed back more often than not by the Wahingdoh players out to make amends for their last game. The efforts paid off barely 11 minutes into the second half when a lofted pass from Ngouba found Nabachandra at the front.  The rival custodian stepped forward to get hold of the ball but Nabachandra was quick enough to go round from the right and tap the ball into the nets from goal mouth as the hapless goalie, who was down trying to make a save, looked on.

The Royals were 3-0 up now but the best of Nabachandra was yet to come.

In the 76th minute, fed by a fine Bekay Bawar through ball Nabachandra made a brisk run forward. As the rival custodian stepped ahead again to deny Nabachandra, the latter skillfully launched a lofted shot which went sailing into the nets to make the score 4-0 in favour of RWFC.

Langsning hardly looked like making a comeback and what made things worse was their inability to convert from a few openings.

The scores remained 4-0 at the blow of the final whistle as the Royals sealed a big win.
