LUDHIANA: Chandigarh-based Minerva Punjab FC host Pune-outfit DSK Shivajians in their Round 9 Hero I-League encounter at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana tomorrow (February 15, 2017).

The warriors of Punjab are back on track after some impressive show in their previous two encounters with a win over Mumbai FC and a draw against Defending I-League Champions & AFC Cup finalists Bengaluru FC in their away fixture which would give them a much-needed boost to face the big guns of Indian Football.

Head coach of DSK Shivajians Dave Rogers, along with Mohd. Sajit Dhat attended the press conference and Surinder Singh and goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh represented the hosts in the pre-match presser today.

Surinder Singh claimed that its a great boost to his side after claiming an important away point at the home reigning champions Bengaluru FC.

On being asked about how much of impact and morale boost did Minerva Punjab FC U16 teams performance by emerging champions for the 2nd time in the Hero Youth League had caused, Surinder Singh added, ” It was a great achievement for our Under 16 team as they won it for the second consecutive time and this was a boost to our senior players as well”.

Surinder Singh stated that his side are fully fit and ready for the game. Arshdeep Singh, when asked about how it feels to be unbeaten for three games, said, “It’s a great feeling on the training ground, especially, when we are unbeaten and we have five points from last three games”.

Dave Rogers also commented, “It’s great to work with these players and that’s what I like about Minerva also. I like Ranjit for putting in an effort for making this happen to develop the future footballing talents in the country. DSK and Minerva are two clubs with the same philosophy and we’re ready for tomorrow’s game.”

When asked if DSK would portray Liverpool FC’s style of play, Dave Roger quipped, ” No. I’m not the coach of the Liverpool Academy now. I’m the head coach of DSK Shivajians team and my boys will play the Dave Rogers way which you will witness tomorrow”.

The match is slated to kick off at 04:30 PM and it’ll be beamed live on Ten 2.
