KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club kick off their final round campaign in the Second Division League tomorrow against LoneStar Kashmir FC at the Mohammedan Sporting Club Ground.

Mohammedan Sporting Club, who finished the Eastern Conference atop, are heading into the final round on the back of six weeks of hard training, when they have played a handful of friendly matches against local oppositions. However, the game against LoneStar Kashmir FC won’t be an easy one and Coach Subrata Bhattacharya (Jr.) wants his side to be cautious.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Coach Bhattacharya said, “The first match is always very difficult, and it is always very important to start any tournament with a victory as it will set the tone for the entire campaign. We have been working hard during the break and hope to come up with a good performance against Kashmir FC.”

Mohammedan Sporting, have added as many as eleven new faces to the squad in their quest for the elusive Hero I-League berth.

South Sudan international James Moga has come in place of Kareem Omolaja Nurain while Zimbabwean striker Simbarashe Gate and Ivorian defender Lancine Toure has replaced Taurus Manneh and Kazeem Amobi respectively, with the additions of Manish Maithani, Karma Tsewang, Nagen Tamang, Poibiang Pohshna, Dipendu Dowary, Antoni Soren and Sheikh Faiz. The club has also acquired the services of the experienced custodian Abhijit Mondal.

On the other hand, the visitors come into the final round with an almost unchanged squad that featured in the Western Conference round and they will be heavily banking on the strike-pair of Farukh Choudhary (4 goals) and Atinder Mani (4 goals) to fire up front. The pair has scored eight out of Kashmir FC’s ten goals in the zonal round and they will provide a stiff challenge for the Black Panthers defense.

Furthermore, the likes of Adil Khan, Gagandeep Singh and skipper Kamaljeet Kumar will also form an important part of the side.

The game kicks off at the Mohammedan Sporting Club Ground.
