CHANDIGARH: Minerva Academy FC showed their authority as they defeated cross-town rivals Youngsters Club 12-0 in the ongoing U-15 Youth League North Zone Leg at the Sector-17 Stadium on Thursday.
Riding over a 4-0 victory on the Bhaichung Bhutia Football School, the boys came into the Chandigarh Derby with loads of positivity and confidence.
Minerva Academy boys hit the right chord from the first minute itself and Anwar Ali opened the goalmouth in the 10th minute before Govind Bahadur scored the second goal just after a minute. In the 18th minute, Sahib Malik rose to the occasion to score their third goal.
The domination continued throughout the first half thought Youngsters managed to thwart off the chances. The match went into the break with a respectable scoreline of 3-0.
The first 5 minutes of the 2nd half went well for Youngsters as they created a couple of chances. But Anwar Ali struck once again in the 50th minute of the match.
Thoiba Singh joined the party in the 62nd minute to score their fifth goal before Jackson Singh poked in the sixth goal from the edge of the box.
In the next four minutes, Subham Sarangi scored twice to take the tally to 8-0. Amarjeet also didn’t keep himself behind as he scored a fine brace within three minutes followed by their ninth goal scored by Jackson. Govind Bahadur added one more in the added minutes to complete the assault.
In the end, it was a mammoth 12-0 victory by Minerva Academy Football Club claimed the bragging right of the Chandigarh Derby winner. The 12-0 scoreline is also the second biggest margin of victory throughout the U-15 Youth League.
Meanwhile Sudeva continued their winning run as they beat IYSA 3-1 to keep their pole position intact as Bhaichung Bhutia Football School and Conscient Football played out a goalless draw.
