SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC defeated Langsning FC 2-0 in a Shillong Premier League Encounter at the JN Stadium Shillong on Thursday.

Lajong youngsters kicked off the match with great confidence going forward and pressed early on in the opponents half. They earned two consecutive corners within 5 minutes but could not capitalise on the chances created. Langsning only started to have a flow of possession in the game after ten minutes and began to attack the Lajong defence.

Lajong scored the first goal of the match in the 18th minute courtesy a wonderful shot from outside the box by Redeem Tlang leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to make a save. The Goal boosted the confidence of the Lajong players as they began to create more chances in front of goal.

They were moving the ball well all around and could have had a bigger lead. Few minutes before the half time whistle, a free kick taken by Jacob from outside the box could have doubled the lead for Lajong but the ball hit the crossbar and the rebound which was met by Lalramuana’s header also hit the crossbar which then tipped over.

It was a livelier second half as both sides worked hard and pressed forward but unfortunately both sides failed to deliver a good chance in front of goal. Then in the 64th minute, Lalramuana found his name in the score sheet with an easy tap in goal after a shot from Bipin was not dealt with by the Langsning keeper inside the box.

Ten minutes later, Langsning goalkeeper was sent off by the referee and Lajong had the advantage of one player less in Langsning SC. Lajong began to dominate proceedings and could have scored half a dozen goals if not for the ball hitting the cross bar on several chances. The Lajong boys controlled the game right to the end to earn themselves a well deserved victory. With this win, Lajong remain undefeated and have earned 16 points from 6 matches and will play their next match against Malki SC on 1st October.
