SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC defeated Malki Sports Club 3-1 in a Shillong Premier League encounter at the JN Stadium Shillong on Friday.

The Reds were brimming with immense confidence, started the match brightly and were the first to find the back of the net.

Young striker Lalrammuana scored a hat trick today and has taken his goal tally to 11 goals which makes him the highest goal scorer in the Shillong Premier League so far.

It was in the 18th minute of the match that Lalrammuana headed a Bipin Singh cross and gave Lajong a 1-0 lead in the first half.

The young Reds dominated possession and had a good control of the game and doubled the lead via penalty. Lalrammuana converted the penalty in the 50th minute.

Malki Sports Club who also displayed good game of football in the second half managed to pull one back when Banshanlang netted a brilliant shot which sailed past the Lajong keeper in the 51st minute.

Lajong who have been ruling the top spot of the Shillong Premier League Points Table since the start of the League, made sure to take home another three golden points and pressed forward in search of another goal. The Lajong Forward line created immense pressure on the Malki Defenders, and finally got the breakthrough in the 77th minute of the match. It was Lalrammuana again to score Lajong’s third and completed his hat trick to put the game to bed with a scoreline of 3-1.

With this win, Lajong have 30 points from 14 matches. Lajong have scored a total of 28 goals in this edition of the SPL. The Youngsters of Lajong were also the first team to advance to the Semi-Finals of the SPL after being a dominant force throughout this season.
