NEW DELHI: KLASA FC became the fourth and final team to qualify for the 2024-25 I-League 2 after holding Sesa Football Academy 0-0 in their last I-League 3 Play-offs Group A match at the Kalyani Stadium on Friday, October 4, 2024.
The draw meant that KLASA FC finished Group A in second place with seven points. The result was also favourable for Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC, who remained in third place and sealed their berth in the 2025-26 I-League 2.
KLASA FC will be the third Manipur team in the upcoming I-League 2 season, joining NEROCA FC and TRAU FC, who were relegated from last season’s I-League.
In the other Group A match, which was essentially a dead rubber, Diamond Harbour FC scored a late winner to beat Downtown Heroes FC 2-1 at the Naihati Stadium.
The Bengal side, who have already booked their place in the I-League 3 final, took the lead in the fourth minute through William Lalgoulien before it was cancelled out by Fahad Temuri of Downtown Heroes in the 54th minute. However, Shaiborlang Kharpan netted the winner in the 89th minute to make it four wins in four for Diamond Harbour and condemn the Srinagar side to their fourth straight defeat.
Diamond Harbour FC, KLASA FC, Chanmari FC and SAT Tirur are the four teams who have qualified for the 2024-25 I-League 2. Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC and MYJ-GMSC have qualified for the 2025-26 I-League 2.
