I-LEAGUE Media Team

NEW DELHI: Mumbai FC Head Coach Khalid Jamil has praised the shape of his team ahead of the Federation Cup kicking off on December 28 in Goa.

The I-League side kick off proceedings against last season’s Second Division League Champions Royal Wahingdoh on the D-Day, and Jamil has praised the chemistry of his side, as he stays positive for the tournament ahead.

“I would say the team has a lot of unity. I am really happy to see my team bonding so well,” Jamil said in his Club’s official site.

“There is a good mixture of junior and senior players and everyone is combining well when they play. Now it’s time to put what we practiced in the training ground on the football pitch of Fatorda.”

The former Indian footballer also praised the performance of his side during the pre-season, and he believes that the participation in the local Mumbai league has definitely upped the fitness level of the players.

“[The preparation for the Fed Cup] has been really good. We have played nine matches in the MDFA Elite Division which helps in building the fitness levels of the players.

“Overall it’s been a fantastic pre-season. Paresh Shivalkar is sadly injured. I cannot comment on how long he will be out yet. Otherwise everyone is fit,” added Jamil.
