MUMBAI: After a barren draw against Kolkata outfit Mohun Bagan, Mumbai Football Club will host Bengaluru Football Club in their second home game within three days.
Mumbai will face Bengaluru with fairly high spirits, as last season’s 2-0 win still remaining fresh in the hearts and minds of the club faithful. But Santosh Kashyap, Manager and Head Coach, Mumbai FC said, “I am not concerned about the past six years, who was the coach et al. My objective is to win the remaining nine matches.”
“We changed our shape and positioning of our players due to which we conceded goals. In the last match (against Mohun Bagan), we worked on our mistakes and we got a clean sheet, and we will improve from this point and try to win the rest of our matches,” said Santosh Kashyap.
Santosh Kashyap remains confident that if his side is able to win all the remaining matches, they can accomplish their season’s objective of finishing in the top-3. There is also a “home and psychological advantage” for Mumbai according to Kashyap when they face Bengaluru on Saturday evening.
Bengaluru comes into this match, struggling with their form and desperately looking to put a positive result on the board. Albert Roca’s side has not seen a win in the last five matches, drawing three matches in a row. “In this league table apart from Mohun Bagan and East Began each and every team is struggling, and Bengaluru are going through a bad phase as well,” expressed Santosh Kashyap.
There are no injury concerns for Mumbai from the starting eleven that played against Bagan on Wednesday as stated by Kashyap. The Mumbai coach remained a satisfied figure with the progress his side has shown in the last match and thinks they can come out with a positive result against Bengaluru.
As both side head out tomorrow, there cannot be one clear winner at the full time with either side yet to match up to their expectations. Although history favours Mumbai at home to get a positive result, it is to be seen that whether Bengaluru FC can prove their mettle and turn their season around at Cooperage.
The match is scheduled at 07:00 PM and it’ll be telecast live on Ten 2.
