RUDRAPUR: The second matchday of the AIFF Futsal Club Championship 2024–25 produced a goal-fest as Juggernaut FC and Minerva Academy FC recorded emphatic wins in Group A at the Shri Manoj Sarkar Stadium – Shivalik Hall on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

While Juggernaut FC thrashed Aphuyemi Football Club 17-4 in the opening fixture, Minerva bounced back with a resounding 9-0 victory over Triumph FC to revive their campaign.

Juggernaut on a rampage

Juggernaut FC continued their dream start to the tournament with another stunning display, consolidating their position at the top of Group A with six points from two games. The Gujarat-based side exploded into action from the first whistle, captain Jenishsinh Rana opening the scoring inside a minute before Shibu Sunny struck twice in quick succession. Rana added his second in the fourth minute, making it 4-0 within just four minutes.

There was no stopping Juggernaut as goals poured in relentlessly. Shivam Yadav and Vedant Mutkekar dominated the midfield and converted chances with precision, while Caetano Fernandes and Rudra Chhetri also joined the party. By half-time, Juggernaut led 9-1, with Aphuyemi’s lone response coming via Akumyanger in the 15th minute.

The second half was a continuation of the onslaught, Sunny completing his second consecutive hat-trick and finishing the game with five goals, while Yadav grabbed a treble and Mutkekar netted his own hat-trick. Aphuyemi managed three more consolation strikes, but Juggernaut’s sheer dominance ensured a record-breaking scoreline.

Former champions Minerva Academy get off the mark

After their opening defeat to Juggernaut, Minerva Academy FC roared back to form in style, dismantling Triumph FC in a one-sided affair. Skipper Himanshu Thapa led by example, completing a hat-trick with goals in the 1st, 5th, and 23rd minutes. Minerva stamped their authority early, scoring five goals before the interval and adding four more in the second half, with Lalit Patil bagging a brace.

The victory lifted Minerva to second place in Group A with three points from two matches, while Triumph FC slumped to their second straight defeat and now face an uphill battle to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
