RUDRAPUR: Juggernaut FC became the first team to make the knockout rounds of the fourth edition of the AIFF Futsal Club Championship 2024–25 as they rolled past Real Lona FC 5-0 in a Group A game at the Shri Manoj Sarkar Stadium – Shivalik Hall on Thursday, 7 August 2025.

It was also business as usual for Minerva Academy FC as they thrashed Aphuyemi Football Club 13-6 in another Group A game held earlier in the day. In Group B fixtures, which underwent on Thursday, Bhawanipore FC dismantled Golazo Football Club 16-2 while Thlangtiang Futsal Club defeated Corbett FC 3-0.

Juggernaut enter knockouts

Shibu Sunny was once again the star of the show for Juggernaut FC as his brace helped the Ahmedabad side ease to a victory. Vedant Mutkekar, Jenishsinh Rana and Caetano Francisco Fernandes were the other scorers.

Their third consecutive win helped Juggernaut FC reach nine points in the five-team group. With Triumph FC and Real Lona FC both playing two matches each and not getting more than a point yet, they will not be able go past Juggernaut even if they win their next two games. Aphuyemi FC lost both their matches and will need a remarkable turnaround if they want to make the knockouts. This equation helped Juggernaut make the quarterfinals.

Thapa and Patil score hat-tricks in Minerva win

Himanshu Thapa and Lalit Vasantrao Patil netted a hat-trick each in Minerva Academy FC’s second win of the competition. PC Lalruatzela and Suraj Bhairat also scored a brace each as the 2022-23 champions took a big step towards entering the quarterfinals. They now have six points in their bag from three games.

For Aphuyemi, it was the second successive loss of the tournament. Their goals came from Akumyanger, who scored a hat-trick, and Ngamminlun Melvin’s brace while Thanggousang Hangsing also got his name on the scoresheet.

Minerva’s rout, though, was started by James Lalnunchhana as he scored in the first minute. It was quickly followed by goals from Thapa and Patil which set the tone for the match. Despite Aphuyemi trying their best to make a comeback, it wasn’t enough.

Comfortable victory for Bhawanipore FC

Bhawanipore FC hardly broke any sweat as they started their campaign on a winning note, defeating Golazo FC 16-2 in a Group B game. As many as six players, netted a brace, highlighting the team effort behind their performance.

They attacked from the outset and took the lead in the third minute through Laltlansanga. However, Mohammed Fayaz K equalised for Golazo in the 13th minute to make the match interesting. But Bhawanipore got their act together and the floodgates opened when Laltlansanga scored his second in the 17th minute. Then onwards, it became one-sided traffic as Bhawanipore imposed themselves on the match and registered an easy win.

Thlangtiang Futsal Club start on a winning note

Thlangtiang Futsal Club rode second-half goals from Joseph Lalkhawngaiha, Lalremtluanga and Rampianmawia to defeat Corbett FC 3-0 in their first match of the competition. Thlangtiang though, had to endure some nervy moments in the first half before they came out all guns blazing in the second half to secure the win.
