KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club have confirmed the signings of Yusif Yakubu and South Sudanese International James Joseph Saeed Moga, who joined practice Monday after reaching Kolkata on Saturday but Yakubu is expected to arrive later this week.
The Kolkata Outfit find it very difficult to score goals up front during the Eastern conference of the 2nd Division League, but now after the inclusion of Moga and Yakubu, the forward line is looking promising before the final phase of the final stage of the ongoing Second Divison League.
Head Coach Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. said, “Moga and Yakubu are very experienced players and they know their role on the field so it’s a boon for us to have both of them together in our team.”
James Moga started his career in India with Sporting Clube de Goa back in 2011 and next year he shifted to Pune FC. The South Sudanese International has also plied his trade for East Bengal in the 2013-14 season and he scored the decisive goal in 2013 AFC Cup Quarter-Finals against Semen Padang FC which guided East Bengal into the Semi-Finals of the competition for the very first time.
“I would like to thank the almighty for giving me this opportunity. It’s a huge honor for me to play for Mohammedan Sporting Club as its a big club with a big reputation”, Moga said on Monday.
“Kolkata is not a new place to me, fans always expect the best from the players and we have to push ourselves to meet their expectations.” Further, he added.
Nagen Tamang, Poibiang Pohshna, Karma Tsewang and Sheikh Faiz have joined the practice today and other new signings are expected to join shortly.
