Bengaluru FC will be up against reigning champions Johor Darul Ta’zim of Malaysia when AFC Cup action returns to the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Wednesday night but Blues gaffer Ashley Westwood said his side will play without the burden of pressure and look to give a good account of themselves.

“It’s going to be a good game. They are a good team and are the champions of the AFC Cup with right reason. We’ve played them last season and know what to expect from them. They have made a couple of changes from last year and I believe they are stronger,” said Westwood of the opposition that is coached by Argentine Mario Gomez.

Striker CK Vineeth and central defender Curtis Osano, both recovering from groin strains, are doubtful starters while Lyngdoh is yet to completely recover from a fracture. Midfielder Shankar Sampingiraj, meanwhile, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a ruptured cruciate.

Echoing the gaffer’s sentiments was skipper Sunil Chhetri who said the team was motivated to do well, given the manner things ended up the last time they played JDT. “We backed ourselves there and did well and when we play at home, we back ourselves even more. As players, we are going to look the other way in terms of fatigue and hectic travel and go out there and give nothing less than 100%.”

On the other hand, the Hero I-League champions Mohun Bagan have travelled all the way to Hong Kong to lock their horns with South China, who were humbled by Yangon United in the first match of the group.

The Mariners are on a roll right now and they’ll certainly look to extend their winning run in the AFC Cup following their pulverising win over Maziya Sports & Recreation Club in Guwahati. Cornell Glen, Jeje Lalpekhlua and Sony Norde have found the back of the net in their AFC Cup opener and undoubtedly gaffer Sanjoy Sen will bank on the trio to get the better of South China tomorrow, who are third in the Hong Kong Premier League table now.

While the battle between South China and Mohun Bagan is slated to start at 5:30 PM IST, the Bengaluru bout is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM IST.
