BHUBANESWAR: Sethu FC jumped ahead to a much safer position in the points table when they outwitted hosts Nita Football Academy 2-0 in the Indian Women’s League 2024-25 at the Capital Football Arena on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
The winners, who led 1-0 at half time, scored through their two Ugandan recruits, Hadijah Nandago (16’) and Amnah Nababi (90+3’, penalty).
The former champions, who were hovering around the relegation zone in the eight-team league, can now feel more secure with 16 points from 12 matches. Nita, on the other hand, are still not out of the danger zone (13 points from 12 matches), though the defeat suffered by their city mates, Odisha FC, on Sunday, may offer them some relief in the points table.

With both teams trying to wriggle out of a difficult situation in the league table, it turned out to be an interesting affair from the start. Both teams had to opt for an open game, and the home side were perhaps slightly better in their approach. Nita attacked more and found their way into the rival box on several occasions, but couldn’t find a goal.
Sethu took the lead in the 16th minute when a cross from the right landed in the box, keeping the entire Nita defence baffled. Nita goalkeeper Sasmita Parida was out of position and Hadijah Nandago rushed in to get a touch of the ball that rolled over the goalline.
In the second half, Nita did everything to find the equaliser, but it didn’t happen. To their dismay, Sethu scored again during the add-on time from a penalty to ensure the three crucial points. Amnah Nababi made no mistake from the spot, her left-footer was right on target.
At the fag end of the match, Nita’s Ghanaian defender Sussana Konadu was shown the red card for her second yellow card offence.
