KOZHIKODE: Defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC take on the heavyweights RoundGlass Punjab FC in their Hero I-League 2022-23 game at the EMS Stadium in Kozhikode, Kerala on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Francesc Bonet’s Gokulam Kerala were left dejected after they were upset by NEROCA in their previous game in Manipur. Speaking about the result against NEROCA at the pre-match press conference, Bonet feels his side was unlucky on the day. The Spanish manager thinks they need to put on a similar performance on Thursday and is confident that it will fetch them the three points.
“It’s true that we got a shocking result in our last game. We got a lot of chances but couldn’t get back into the game, but tomorrow we will try to create more openings and win the match. We are confident that we can get three points.” Bonet said.
“It’s difficult when you have to travel so far and have only a few days to adapt and train. We have matches every three days, so that will be difficult,” Bonet added on to the upcoming challenge. “However, here we have an advantage as we have the best fans in the league, which will help us in the game,” the Spaniard added.
As the season moves towards its business end, Bonet believes that irrespective of the opponents, it is important for them to win all their remaining games. “All the games are equally important. We’re now taking it one game at a time. It makes no difference whether the opponents are in second or last place. We have to win every game,” he said.
“It’s a difficult game to play against one of the strongest teams in the league,” said RoundGlass Punjab head coach Staikos Vergetis. “Big name in Indian football, champions last year with quality players and a coach. We have to concentrate and stay disciplined in our plan for the game.
“We are heading towards the end of the season, each point and every game becomes important for all the teams. Both teams will fight hard for the three points tomorrow. I am sure the people watching the match tomorrow will get to see a very good game,” the Greek coach added.
The match between Gokulam Kerala and RoundGlass Punjab will be broadcast live on Eurosport and Doordarshan Sports and streamed live on the Discovery Plus OTT platform at 4:30 pm IST.
