KOZHIKODE: After bagging their biggest away win of the season against Sudeva Delhi, Gokulam Kerala FC are set to host Sreenidi Deccan FC in their final game of the Hero I-League 2022-23 at the EMS Stadium in Kozhikode on Sunday, March 12, 2023. The match is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 pm IST.

Gokulam Kerala are currently in third place on the points table, only one point ahead of Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) in fourth. Later on Sunday, TRAU will play against champions RoundGlass Punjab. A win for Gokulam will secure them third position, while any other result will give TRAU a chance to surpass them on the table. The Malabarians may fancy their chances against a struggling Sreenidi Deccan side, who have failed to win their last three games and are out of the reckoning for the title.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Gokulam Kerala head coach Francesc Bonet stated his team will go all out for the win on the last day to help their qualification for the Hero Super Cup. “We want to win. It’s our last game and we want better seedings for the Super Cup. Also, we want to end the league with a happy feeling. We are expecting a good match,” said the Spaniard.

Although this game offers nothing for Sreenidi Deccan as they are destined to finish in second place regardless of the result, head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto believes it will provide a good opportunity for his team to prepare for the Hero Super Cup. He said, “We don’t have anything to achieve on the table, but still, we will fight for the three points. We have to prepare for the Super Cup, and this match will be a good opportunity.

“It is a match between two top teams with good squads. Gokulam also has a great coach. It’s very difficult to score against them, and I am expecting a highly competitive match,” the Portuguese added.
The match between Gokulam Kerala and Sreenidi Deccan will be telecast live on Eurosport and Doordarshan Sports and streamed live on the Discovery Plus OTT platform at 4:30 pm IST.
