BENGALURU: With two draws from as many matches, they have played so far, the FC Bengaluru United find themselves in a must-win situation when they meet Ryhtih Sports Club on Wednesday. Bengaluru United came up with a resilient performance to overcome early setbacks in their first game against Madan Maharaj to hold them 3-3.
Introspecting about that match, head coach Richard Hood said, “That was an incredible 90 minutes to be a part of in terms of the character and intent showed by the team and by the boys that stepped up to take care of the scoreline to keep our campaign alive going into the last game. We take away a lot from that performance both in terms of the football positives and unity that was on display.”
Looking ahead of the third match in their Pool A campaign, Hood said, “Nobody is happy right now looking at the points table when we compare it to the aggressive stats that we have compiled and the football that we have displayed. We have to get ourselves out of the situation we find ourselves in and do what needs to be done.”
Talking about the mood in the dressing room ahead of the encounter against Ryntih SC, Hood asserted, “We recognise the pure and honest intent with which they play. No time wastage, no play-acting, no arguments and a ‘get on with it’ attitude. We are not in a position to fall short on aggression and intensity tomorrow against a side like that – we have to show up.”
Reflecting on coach Hood’s thoughts, Bengaluru United Captain Raavanan said, “I always think positive, and being a captain, it’s my job to make my players believe in themselves and in your teammates. We are a hard-working team and we will continue doing what we have to in tomorrow’s match, now our target is to win tomorrow’s match and get three points. Hopefully, we achieve that.”
Meanwhile, Ryntih SC who have suffered two consecutive losses will be looking to iron out their mistakes. Head coach Khlain Syiemlieh said, “It is has been a great experience coming here and playing against some of the best teams. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s match and focusing on what’s coming next most importantly work on the weakness.”
Adding to Syiemlieh’s views, the team skipper Meban Wahlang said, “We did well in both our matches and we gave it all. But could not score from so many chances. We are ready for tomorrow’s match and looking forward to a good contest.”
The match will kick off at 12:30 PM IST and will be broadcast live on the 1Sports channel.
