NEW DELHI: East Bengal fans are quite frustrated with the team’s gloomy sign offs preceded by dazzling starts in a season. The Red & Gold troop loss their path midway and their entire hard work goes for a toss. The youngsters started on a high note last season but unfortunately failed to maintain the momentum till the end, eventually finished their U-19 I-League campaign with a drab draw against United SC.
The Red & Gold management have infused a lot of energy to build up their young troop and the result is somewhere in the horizon. Buddhwa Bara and Achinta Ghosh lead the attacking line and these agile, robust strikers are sharp poachers. Buddhwa has already found the back of the net twice in the tournament and opponent defenders would be shivering while facing him. He falls in the bracket ‘Fox in the box’ and a striker of his caliber is a real gem for any outfit.
The gaffer prefers to deploy his pawns in 4-4-2 with Buddhwa and Achinta leading the spearhead. Arup Roy, the skipper, is the perfect tuner and changes the gear according to the situation. He soaks in maximum pressure and covers a huge area in the pitch.
Bijoy Roy and Alamgir Hossain are the mainstays in their own box and they deal the opponent attackers with utmost expertise. Their serenity and slick ability inside the box earned many a plaudit from the coaching team. Mostly, their ‘never-say-die’ attitude and exquisite adaptability outsmarts rival strikers.
East Bengal chaps are determined to etch a glorious saga this season and the conditioning camp at Kalyani was the idyllic catalyst to ignite their hunger for the silverware. They are banking mostly on the home matches and are looking forward to amass as many points from the home matches, which would subsequently smooth their pathway to the national round, which eluded them last year.
