KOLKATA: Banking on the home advantage, Mohammedan Sporting Club will look to bounce back to their winning ways as they host Dempo Sports Club in the Second Division League final round encounter at the Mohammedan Sporting Club Ground tomorrow.
Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. is well aware of the significance of the game against the most decorated club in the country as any more slip up will put Mohammedan SC’s quest for the coveted Hero I-League berth in further jeopardy.
“Players knows the seriousness of match and how important it is to win, We have worked on our mistakes from the last match during the practice sessions and are looking to bounce back to win tomorrow and put ourselves on the right track,” Coach Bhattacharya said on the eve of the clash.
On the other hand, Dempo SC come into the game on the back of a 0-2 loss against Neroca FC last week, thus, the Mauricio Afonso coached side will be self-motivated to go for all three points.
However, Coach Bhattacharya is in no mood to give away anything easy for the visitors. “We know that tomorrow we are facing a tough opponent even for that matter the toughest in the competition, but with all said and done tomorrow we don’t have any other option except win and we are going all out to achieve that.” Coach Bhattacharya added.
The visitors who have garnered three points from two games will be heavily depending on the strike pair of Felix Chidi Odili and Bevan D’Mello to fire up front.
Joining them will be the likes of Romeo Fernandes, Mandar Rao Desai and Jewel Raja Sheikh who will provide options in the attack with experienced Peter Carvalho is expected to marshall the midfield.
Last time when Mohammedan SC beat Dempo it was way back in 2007 and since then both sides faced off five times with Dempo winning three.
On the team news front, Mohammedan SC will be boosted by the return of team’s top scorer Ajay Singh after serving a one-match suspension.
The match kicks off at Mohamedan Sporting Club at 3.00 pm tomorrow.
