AIZAWL: The Mc Dowell’s Mizoram Premier League Season 4 has come to an end, Aizawl FC marches on to defeat Chanmari FC with the final score of 3-0 completing their hat-trick winning record against their counterpart in the Mizoram Premier League Season 4. The stage is set for an enthralling encounter as both teams had faced each other in the final of the Mizoram Premier League Season 3, a game which Aizawl FC won by a penalty shoot-out, Chanmari FC came out with all their bells and whistles trying to make amends of their previous defeat against Aizawl FC to be the first team ever to have won the Mizoram Premier League two times.Aizawl FC’s Head Coach Manuel fielded his best men to win the league and defend Aizawl FC’s League Championship, the men in red and white outplayed their opponents and scored three goals while keeping a clean sheet and were crowned Champions of the Mizoram Premier League Season 4.
Poirei started under the woodwork while Zuala started on the right, Ruatthara on the left, Ronald and Chullova in the middle, one of MPL’s best defense line.
Once again Manuel fielded his trusted, reliable and mobile midfield trio of Bt-a, Ms-a and Yuta, the midfield trio proved too hard to break for Chanmari FC with Aizawl FC controlling majority of the ball possession.
At the front Center forward Alfred teamed up with Albert on the right and Brandon on the left forward positions forming the vanguard of Aizawl FC’s attack.
The game kicks off with Chanmari FC starting the game, from the first whistle it’s clear that both teams are looking for a goal as both teams were goal bound in every move they make. Aizawl FC looked for a foothold in the game, Bt-a, Ms-a and Yuta worked hard in the middle of the pitch to break the play of their opponents, the midfield triangle worked wonders for the team forming a strong cohesive body in the middle, dictating the pace and direction of play.
After a throw in by Chanmari FC’s Rozama, Albert raced past two defenders and broke clear to drive a perfectly paced low cross for Liberian forward Alfred to drive home from close range.
Aizawl FC scored the second goal of the match before Chanmari FC’s defenders had the time to steady their nerves, Alfred is on the scoreline again. The Liberian took full advantage of a weak back pass by Chanmari FC’s Rinchanna, raced clear, run the ball wide to deliver a low shot to the corner of the goal beyond the reach of the goal keeper, a good shot, full marks to the calm and composed Alfred. The stands reserved for Chanmari FC filled with fans in blue and white were mum, the silence is heart breaking, while on the other side Aizawl FC’s fans sing along with the club anthem played after the goal, their loud screams are defeaning, the crowds have everything to cheer for as their team have grabbed a two goal cushion they crave for.
Past the half hour mark Aizawl FC’s Japanese import received a yellow card after reacting to a tackle.
The first half continued, Chanmari FC tried their best to pull a goal back but Aizawl FC in form goalkeeper Poirei pulled a strong safe from close range to keep his clean –sheet and end the first half Aizawl FC 2-0 Chanmari FC.
Aizawl FC starts the second half, the men in red and white have a two goal cushion but chose to play an attacking game, looking for a third goal and scored the third goal of the match two minutes after the restart.
Aizawl FC reliable Captain Zuala lobbed the ball into the box, Alfred connected the ball with his head but his effort was denied by the woodwork, the rebound ball was easy enough for the on rushing Brandon to head home.
At this point the game is beyond Chanmari FC’s reach, three goals down and down on morale, the game turned into a bombardment of Aizawl FC attack against Chanmari FC’s defense, but they made no mistake till the final whistle and stood strong.
Chanmari FC’s Sawmfela received little of a ball and remained over shadowed by the pairing of Ronald and Chullova, the duo complemented each other in their defensive run downs and dealt with the chances that Chanmari FC managed to create.
Aizawl FC’s Albert dribbled past a defender in the byline, was pushed to the ground from the back! The players appealed for a penalty kick, but the referee blew for a goal kick.
Head Coach Manuel brought on Biaktea for Albert in the 71st minute to bring more pace in the game, made a second substation in the 78th minute, the hard working Bt-a made way for team Captain David who is back from injury, the crowds were loud cheering for their Captain. Manuel used his final substitution in the 84th minute, this time Alfred made way for William.
Aizawl FC continued to dominate the game and continued their attack, Chanmari FC defended till the end of the game and Aizawl FC became the first team in the four seasons of the Mizoram Premier League to have won the League title two times.
