AIZAWL: In the last match and round number seven of the McDowell’s Mizoram Premier League Season 4 (2015-2016) phase one, Aizawl FC went head to head with Zo United FC once again after defeating the former with the score line of 3-0 in the Independence Day Celebration Football Tournament 2015, in the second clash of the two teams the victor remains the same with the difference being the score line of Aizawl FC 2 – 0 Zo United FC. Aizawl FC scored a goal in each half of the play and kept their goal safe to solidify their pole position in the Mc Dowell’s Mizoram Premier League Season 4.

Aizawl FC started the game with Jonathan once again in the centre of the defensive line with the ever reliable Chullova, Msa made his presence in the middle of the park in place of Captain David and paired with Bta, goalkeeper T.Mawia stands between the posts once again after skipping a game. Zo United FC had a good start to the game playing a smooth game and attacking Aizawl FC from the flanks and the centre until Aizawl FC gets the rhythm and bombard Zo United FC defence and goal with a barrage of attacking play and chances. Aizawl FC had their first shout at goal when midfield engine Bta hit the woodwork with hi long range shot, the lads scored their first goal in the 39th minute with the goal coming from the pacy winger Brandon who received a normal cross ball at the edge of the box, skipped and danced past two defenders to tuck his shot low beyond the reach of Goalkeeper O.p-a to the far post. Despite Aizawl FC’s steady ball possession the first half fizzled to the score line of Aizawl FC 1-0 Zo United FC.

After the break, Aizawl FC took the game on their stride and went on to attack the stiff Zo United FC backline and created their first chance at goal a few minutes after the break for striker Alfred to miss from close range. Zo United FC were counting on their counter attacks and played deep in their half unable get a grip of the game, the white jersey boys had a good shot at goal in the hour mark of the game, but Aizawl FC goalkeeper T.Mawia pulled a good safe to deny the goal and keep his third clean sheet. In the 79th minute, Aizawl FC scored their match winner and killed the game, Brandon raced down the wing, dummied one defender before placing his low cross for striker Valpuia to score from close range and seal the position of Aizawl FC in the top of the Mc Dowell’s Mizoram Premier League Season 4.

Aizawl FC played seven matches, collected 18 points from the available 21 league points and solidified their position at the top of the table.
