BHUBANESWAR: “Character, quality and talent never let you down,” JSW Bengaluru FC coach Alberto Roca maintained at the official post-match press conference after their convincing 4-2 victory over Mohun Bagan in the Hero Super Cup semi-final at the Kalinga Stadium here on Tuesday (April 17, 2018).

A 10-man Bengaluru FC rode on a Nicolas Fedor (Miku) hat-trick to outwit Mohun Bagan and book a summit clash with Kingfisher East Bengal slated to be held at the Kalinga Stadium on Friday (April 20, 2018). Besides, Sunil Chhetri also scored one while Dipanda Dicka scored a brace for the Mariners.

“We were trailing and there was always the danger of us bowing out. We were also a man down. In such a situation, we just had one option – to go forward and go all out. The character on display was exemplary.”

“I am happy for everybody, not the just the players on the field but also the substitutes. I congratulate them all for the victory. Nishu’s red card was the turning point. Maybe at that point everyone felt making a comeback was impossible,” Roca stated.

Miku mentioned about his telepathy with Udanta Singh on the field. “Udanta is lightning fast. Add to that his quality, it makes him so dangerous. We practice movements on the field for long. We know each other so well that whenever he has the ball, he knows where I am, and vice versa,” Miku informed.

“The strength of our team is that we can play different systems and play it with different players. It’s about our quality, power and confidence,” Miku, the Hero of the match felt.

Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan coach Shankarlal Chakraborty “A lapse of concentration cost us as we conceded two quick goals. We had some open chances which we could not cash on. In such a match we will always repent if we are not able to put the ball into the opponent’s net,” Mohun Bagan coach Shankarlal Chakraborty said. “We had an excellent first-half but faded away as we kept missing chances regularly.”
