GOA: Sporting will look to carry on their title challenge as they take on Dempo SC on Friday in the Goa pro League clash at Duler Stadium. Currently Sporting are placed on top of the pack with 29 points from 14 outings. The Flaming Oranje will be high on confidence as they were able to successfully restore their momentum in the previous fixture by beating Salgaocar FC.  The previous encounter between the teams saw Sporting get better of Dempo SC 2 – 1 in the 6th round of Goa Pro League. Creson Antao header in the first half and Marcus Mascarenhas tap in towards the closing stages proved decisive as The Flaming Oranje piped the Golden Eagles after Uttam Rai had put things on level through a penalty kick early in the second half.

Speaking to the media, Sporting Coach Mathew Costa said, “The boys have shown true fighting spirit.”  He added more,“The league has entered its final phase, we are definitely looking at the title and we cannot afford any slipups at this moment.”

When asked about the preparation gaffer said,“This should be a good contest, Dempo have a good side and we have prepared well for the match. Such key clashes attract a lot of attention and expectations.”

“The boys have been training well; it’s a great feeling to see the stuff which we practice in training converted into reality. The previous result was a good example. I would be really happy if we managed to emulate our training on the pitch”, He said while referring to the goal scored by Odafa Okolie in the match against Salgaocar FC.
