GOA: Sporting kicked off their GFA U-16 League campaign in style beating SC Porvorim 12 – 0 at Don Bosco Ground, Panjim.

The match was totally controlled by the Orange lads as SC Porvorim struggled to get the ball anywhere near the Sporting nets. The first goal came in at the 14th minute when Jonas Fernandes of Sporting managed to smartly placed the ball past a thickly populated Porvorim box giving Sporting the early lead.

The second goal was produced by an exceptional effort from Sahil Halarnkar who displayed some good ball control and smart game sense to place the ball perfectly into the nets giving Sporting the second goal. Post this Alrich D’Souza, Aman Govekar and Sahil added one each to make the score line 5 – 0 at the half time.

Sporting picked up from where they left off in the second half with Aman Govekar creating a havoc in the Porvorim defense. He made some exceptional runs on either flanks and led the Sporting attack in the second half. Out of the 7 goals scored in the second half 5 were created by Aman.

The second half opened when Nikhil Corriea got into action as his far range attempt saw the ball sail into the nets, while Savelon Cardozo added two more in the second half. Shane Rebelo who came in as a substitute also managed to get into the score sheet with a powerful right footed shot. The best of all came in at the 68th minute as Jayden Fernandes made a run from the Sporting half all the way across to drill in a fantastic shot adding his name in the ever increasing scorer list.  Lloyd Mascarenhas and Sadanand Dabholkar wrapped up things for Sporting in style.
