Margao: Salgaocar FC’s juniors put on a stellar display to demolish SCC Cavelossim 5-1 in the U-20 Taca Goa game played at the Cansaulim ground. The winners led 4-0 at the breather.

The Greens were up and running from the outset and quickly raced to a 3-0 lead in the first 7 minutes. The first of those was scored in the very first minute as Stefen Fernandes broke free on the right and his cross saw Yamnur Pinjar bury home with a powerful header. In the 3rd minute, Salgaocar doubled their lead as Myron Borges played Stefen through, the last named beating the keeper with a deft touch.

Yamnur then found the back of the net with his head for the second time in the evening as he met a fine cross from Klins Mendes. Thereafter the Cavelossim lads settled and did create a few decent opportunities but Avinash did brilliantly under the Salgaocar bar to keep them at bay.

With 7 minutes to go to half time, Salgaocar scored their fourth the lanky Saurabh Patil headed home from a Domnic Soares Jr. corner. It could have been 5 in favour of the Greens soon after resumption but Jeet kept out Stefen after being set up by Klins.

The fifth did however come in the 68th minute as Klins played a defense splitting pass that saw Stefen calmly finish for his second of the evening. Cavelossim did find a consolation in the 72nd minute as Avinash misjudged a header from distance. Salgaocar could have added a few more in the final 15 minutes but their strikers were wasteful. The Greens take on Dempo SC in their final Taca Goa encounter.
