KALYANI: Sribhumi FC continued their perfect start to the Indian Women’s League 2025-26 with a 1-0 victory against Sesa Football Academy at the Kalyani Stadium in Kalyani, West Bengal, on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Anju Tamang’s (20’) first-half strike proved decisive as the West Bengal side registered their second consecutive win of the campaign. They now have six points from two matches and are second in the table.

Having opened their season with a commanding 4-0 triumph over Gokulam Kerala FC, Sribhumi took to the field with confidence and purpose. From the opening exchanges, they asserted control through midfield, where Sibani Devi, Rimpa Haldar, and Mousumi Murmu dictated tempo with neat passing and intelligent movement. Their ability to recycle possession and probe patiently ensured sustained pressure on the Sesa backline.

The breakthrough arrived in the 20th minute following a well-worked attacking move. Rimpa surged down the left flank before delivering a low cross into a crowded area. Captain Dangmei Grace attempted a left-footed effort from the edge of the box, which was blocked by a defender. The loose ball, however, fell kindly for Anju, who timed her run to perfection, stayed onside, and finished calmly to give Sribhumi a deserved lead.

The goal settled Sujata Kar’s side, who tightened their grip on the contest thereafter. They controlled possession intelligently and restricted Sesa to sporadic forays forward, ensuring that the opposition found little rhythm in attack.

Sesa, meanwhile, struggled to string passes together and were largely confined to defensive duties for much of the first half.

The pattern remained similar after the break. Sribhumi continued to dominate territory and chances, but found a resilient obstacle in Sesa goalkeeper Beatrice Nketia, who produced a string of impressive saves to deny Grace, Rimpa, and Anju from extending the lead.

Sribhumi’s best chance to double their advantage came when Anju unleashed a powerful strike that crashed against the woodwork, leaving the scoreline unchanged.

Sesa showed greater urgency in the closing stages and nearly snatched an equaliser when Diana Antwi made a darting run through the middle. Her attempted lob, however, sailed over the bar, summing up a frustrating evening for the Goan side.

The final whistle confirmed another disciplined and composed display from Sribhumi, while Sesa were left searching for answers after a third successive defeat in the league that leaves them rooted at the bottom.
