NAIHATI: Diamond Harbour Football Club made sure of their place in the final of the I-League 3 Play-Off from Group A when they picked up their third consecutive win, defeating Keinou Library and Sports Association 2-0 at the Naihati Stadium on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

With nine points from three matches, Diamond Harbour FC are now atop the group, three points clear of Keinou Library and Sports Association (KLASA) and Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC in the five-team group.

Diamond Harbour, who, with today’s win, also made certain of qualification for the I-League 2, opened their scoring in the 22nd minute through Narohari Shrestha and struck the second goal late in the match when Shaiborlang Kharpan converted a penalty kick in the 85th minute.

In another Group A match, Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC kept their hopes of qualification alive by routing Downtown Heroes Football Club 6-0. Shunjanthan Ragui scored twice, while H Robinson Khongsai, Sharangthem Rajdan Singh, Kevisanyu Peseyie and Jwngbla Brahma were the other marksmen for the Assam side.

In I-League 3, 10 teams have been divided into two groups of five each, and are being played in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will earn promotion to the 2024-25 I-League 2. The two group winners will contest the final to be crowned the I-League 3 champions.
