NEW DELHI: Kolkata outfit United Sports Club fight for their place back in the Hero I-League next season as they look forward to the upcoming Second Division League. The Purple brigade go head to head with neighbours Mohammedan Sporting in the opening encounter of the tournament on March 29.
The match takes place at the Kanchenjunga Krirangan in Siliguri.
USC chief coach Satyabrata Bhowmick with his assistant coach Anjan Nath announced that the final squad departed for Siliguri on Thursday, March 26.
Satyabrata’s Club have had more than four weeks of training which started from 20th February, 2015, in preparation for the tournament.
The Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, the Salt Lake Central Park Ground, and the Mohun Bagan Club Ground have remained as their training venues for the preparations.
The team, played practice games against the Police AC Team and the West Bengal State Football Team for the 35th National Games 2015, as well as with Pathachakra. Apart from these, the Purple boys played and won the tournament (Amta Sanhati Gold Cup 2015) in Amta, Howrah, where they faced the likes of Aryan Club, Bhawanipore SC and Mohammedan SC.
“We have had overall good preparations, tried to play as many practice matches as possible. Each of the players are motivated and ready to give their best on the field, and we hope for a good show in the 2nd Division League,” said USC Head Coach Satyabrata Bhowmick.
