NEW DELHI: DSK Shivajians, one of the football powerhouses in Pune, start their campaign in U-18 I-League 2015-16 against Mumbai FC in their backyard on 21st October, 2015. The club, which saw the daylight in 1987, have already made their name in age-group football and earned plaudit from every corner of India while they qualified for the final round of U-19 I-League with a supreme authority.
The DSK group owned team are quite renowned for their jazzy and vibrant football and their approach is quite painstaking in terms of game reading. Lallianzuala, the mainstay of attacking line, is going to give many a sleepless night to opponent gaffers undoubtedly. Chhangte Lallianzuala hammered 16 goals in U19 I-League 2014-15 and topped the chart. Lalliannzuala-Jerry duo thwarted the oppositions time and again with their devastating swiftness and ruthless brutality.
Skipper Jerry Mawihmingthana is an assist master and recorded most number of assists in U19 I-League last season. Jerry’s scoring abilities could not be ignored either as he was joint third highest scorer with 12 goals, just 4 goals shy of Lallianzuala, highest scorer of the season. The partnership of Lalllianzuala and Jerry has been praised abroad while they represented India U19 team. Both of them donned the national colours in the recently concluded AFC U19 qualifiers.
Defence line is led by Lalnunsiama, the sturdy hard nut whose resilience is envied by every rival camp. Sairuat Kima, the new recruitment from Chanmari FC, already earned coach’s faith and almost cemented his berth in the starting eleven. SK Azaruddin, the chap from United SC, was scouted by DSK Shivajians and they didn’t think twice to sign him to instil more vigour in the attacking third.
Youngest members of the troop, Nongdamba Naorem and Denzil Kharshandi, are leaving no stone unturned to convince the coach about their ability. These two kids, boasted with tremendous ability and enormous energy, might end up as the surprise package for the Pune based club.
