NEW DELHI: United SC’s U-19 team beat East Bengal by a 1-0 scoreline in their third round encounter of the U-19 I-League at the Kalyani Stadium in Kalyani, West Bengal, to go to the top of the Kolkata Zone. The decisive goal from Abdul Sajjat in the game against East Bengal on Tuesday gave United a three-point lead in the standings.

In the other game of the zone, Mohun Bagan earned their first win of the tournament this season as they got past Mohammedan Sporting 2-1 at the Rajpur-Sonarpur Ground on Christmas eve.

In the Goa Zone, the AIFF Elite Academy continued their dominance over the standings as they have now have 3 wins from the same number of games. Their latest 2-0 win came against Sporting Clube de Goa on Tuesday. This was also co-incidentally the Academy’s final game in this calendar year. They play their upcoming games in the new year 2015.

Dempo held Sesa Academy in the second game of the Round as the former scored through Kapil Hobles at the start of the second half, to cancel Sesa’s one-goal advantage in the first half.

In the Maharashtra Zone, DSK Shivajians made their impact felt in the tournament once again, as they got past Mumbai FC 3-1. The I-League outfit were leading 1-0 in the half time, however, three second half goals from the debutantes sealed their place in the top of the zone. Lallianzuala scored in the game, and he has now taken his goal tally to five in the competition – the highest.

In the other match, Pifa Sports played out a 2-2 draw against Kenkre Sports Club on Tuesday.
