MUMBAI: Santosh Kashyap will take over as the manager of Mumbai FC from the 2016/17 season. Santosh , 50, has managed at the top level of Indian football for over six years. Announcing the appointment, Deputy Vice President Atul Badgamia said: “Santosh is one of the best managers in Indian football today. He has won and inspired players and he knows the I-League very well.”

He further added, “I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Mumbai FC. His track record of success, drive and ambition made him the outstanding candidate to take the club forward. It is our aim to achieve greater success in the future and Santosh as we believe he is the right manager to do just that.”

The former Air India, Mohun Bagan, Rangdajied United, Royal Wahingdoh, North East United FC and Salgaocar coach is known for his ability to nurture & develop the young players. Under him, Royal Wahingdoh finished 3rd in the I-league 2014-15 season with a relatively young team.

Santosh Kashyap said: “To become Mumbai FC manager is organic growth for me. It is the club of a city having a hundred-year-old football legacy and also where I have played  my football. It is a great honour that I have been offered the responsibility of managing the top football club of Mumbai, a city known and admired throughout India and the world”.

“I have always felt an affinity with Cooperage; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the football fraternity in Mumbai. I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying the magnificent support of the Yellow Brigade in the coming season.”
