KOLKATA: Kingfisher East Bengal would be yearning to return to the winning ways after a disappointing outing against Bengaluru FC when they take on Aizawl FC in Barasat. Aizawl FC are coming off a 1-1 draw against Salgaocar FC at home with Malsawmtluanga scoring from the spot in the dying minutes.

Manuel Retamero was hopeful of continuing their good run as they picked up their first win against DSK Shivajians before succumbing to a defeat against Sporting Clube de Goa in their backyard.

Retamero Fraile, Aizawl FC head coach, is hopeful of putting up a good performance in what would be Aizawl FC’s first peg against the Red and Golds. Their previous trip to Kolkata was not a successful outing for them as they were defeated by Hero I-League champions Mohun Bagan.

Alfred Jaryan will start up front when Yuta Kinowaki will helm the midfield for the North Eastern side, who are still looking for their first away win.

Biswajit Bhattacharya, meanwhile, will be relieved that Bernard Mendy has finally joined his side ending the speculation surrounding him. He would hope for a better display in the opponent box and better coordination between Ranti Martins and Do Dong Hyun. Biswajit Bhattacharya said, “We are looking to win and I am sure the boys will reply on the field.”

Manuel Fraile sounded optimistic when he faced the media during the Press conference today, “It’s our second visit to Kolkata and we’re really looking forward for a better performance this time. It’ll be another tough task tomorrow and we are going to take them on.”

Mendy could be deployed in an attacking role with Arnab Mondal and Bello Rasaq helming the defense. Four points separate the two sides now and Kingfisher East Bengal are desperate to collect a three-pointer tomorrow before their away sojourn.
