NEW DELHI: The first Kolkata Derby of the Hero I-League 2014-15 has been rescheduled, and the match will now be played on February 11, 2015, at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Salt Lake.

The change has taken place due to the fact that the authorities have regretted their inability to provide police force in view of Saraswati Puja on 25th January, and Republic Day on 26th January.

Over and above, it is gathered that 26th January, 2015 has been declared as “Red Alert Day” by the Government of India. This has further made the availability of necessary police force practically impossible.

The Kolkata Derby, featuring McDowell Mohun Bagan and Kingfisher East Bengal, goes down as one of the greatest football rivalries in the world, and the match has a rich history behind it.

East Bengal will thus be hosting the first derby of the league on February 11, whereas, Mohun Bagan will be hosting the derby (return leg) at the same venue on March 28.
