GOA: Sporting Clube De Goa take on Vasco SC in their final fixture of GFA U-20 TACA Goa at Duler Stadium, Mapusa today. Sporting have been undefeated throughout the tournament and will come out hoping to finish it in style. “The equation is simple; we have to win this match to win the title. It’s completely in our hands and that is definitely a good situation to be in”, said Sporting Coach Norbert.

Sporting will be hoping that their inform striker Akeraj Martins can continue his fine run into the final match. Throughout the tournament, Sporting has displayed some fine attacking football with their forward trio creating nightmares for the defenders.

When quizzed about the team’s preparation ahead of the key clash, Coach Norbert said “We are all prepared for tomorrow’s match, the boys trained well. Mood within the camp is positive, the boys are eager to play”. He further added “We had a long team talk yesterday; I could feel the positivity within the players. The boys are aware that all the hard work, all the dedication they have put in has come down to this point, we need three points and that’s all we would be looking for tomorrow”. About the opponents he said “Vasco has a fairly decent side with some promising players that can make difference to a given match on their day, we need to make sure that we can contain them.”

However Coach Norbert and company would be happy as their defense has received a huge boost with their captain Franzil Negredo’s return after serving one match suspension for the bookings he picked up previously.

Vasco SC Coach Eban had to say the following “Sporting have a strong side and we are fully aware about the same.” We have had a fairly good run ourselves and can finish the tournament on a high if the boys do well in today’s match. “We would go into the match hoping to make a difference; we have some decent players who can give a good fight to Sporting. We have worked on our limitations as a unit and will look to play our natural game. A win could take us to the second spot and that’s what all of us would be hoping for”.

However the worrying factor for Eban’s side has been the suspension of two of their experienced defenders Lenney and Milroy who picked up bookings in their previous matches and are forced to sit out from the crucial encounter. Over all the tournament has shaped up well and we have a cracker on the cards.
