NEW DELHI: Goan outfit Dempo SC have confirmed that they have parted ways with Gaffer Arthur Papas, the Club stated through a press release.
The Club confirmed that it had been agreed last week to part ways with Arthur after the Australian resigned citing personal reasons.
“I wish to place on record my thanks to Mr. Shrinivas Dempo, support staff and the players for the period of employment as Head Coach of Dempo SC, and wish the Club continued success for the rest of the season and beyond” stated Mr. Papas.
Arthur joined the Club in June 2013 and in that period guided the Club to a 4th place finish in the 2013/14 season as well as reaching the semi-finals and finals of the Federation Cup in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
During his 20 month stint with Dempo, Papas identified and nurtured a host of young domestic talent, a tenure which culminated last week with as many as eleven players selected as part of the National Team setups.
Mauricio Afonso will be the Interim Head Coach for the Goan team’s upcoming match against Mohun Bagan on 4th March 2015.
