GOA: Sporting Clube de Goa in first of its kind initiative conducted an educational program for the parents of the kids enrolled in the SCG Grassroots Program. In a build up to the launch of a much anticipated Grassroots program, Sporting Clube de Goa invited the parents for an educational session on nutrition and proper health management of the young budding footballers. Speaking on the occasion Principal of Don Bosco High School, Panjim Fr. Avan Carvalho stressed the need for students to participate in sports and the importance of involving the parents in the holistic development. The Club’s General Secretary Edward Noronha stressed on the need to balance the studies along with sports and also mentioned the importance of good healthy leaving. Sporting’s CEO Mr. Victor Fernandes introduced the guest speaker while touching upon the seriousness of balancing a good diet right from the young age.

The Guest Speaker Mr. Jovito Lopes conducted an interactive session with the parents covering various health aspects of today’s generation. He also gave a comprehensive analysis of the food habits and how they help in shaping a good athlete. The talk covered other aspects like the need to constantly monitor the kid’s health and how to balance their studies and sports to achieve their full potential. He also mentioned the right kind of food items to be included in the kids daily diet which would help them to maintain and develop a good appetite which is an integral part of any sports person.  He also added the need for such programs to be conducted on regular basis which would help to create a better understanding among the parents about the child’s requirements.
