NEW DELHI: All India Football Federation condole the untimely demise of Kingfisher East Bengal veteran Mr. Swapan Ball who passed away in Kolkata early tonight (July 28, 2017).

Swapan Ball represented East Bengal Junior Team during 1968-70 as a goalkeeper before getting enrolled himself as a club member.

“On behalf of Mr. Praful M. Patel, President, AIFF and all staff of AIFF we extend our heartfelt condolences to all members of the bereaved family on this irreparable loss and we pray to God to give peace to the departed soul”, was quoted as saying in the condolence message sent by AIFF to Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club today.

Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League also shared his grief when www.i-league.org caught up with him.

“With regards to the knowledge of match organisation and administration, Swapan Ball was second to no one. His demise is not only East Bengal’s loss but the entire Indian Football fraternity’s”, Sunando Dhar was quoted as saying.

“Late Swapan Ball was a person of the Football Family of India who I used to respect from the core of my heart as a football lover. He dedicated his entire life to the cause of the game. Swapan Ball and the East Bengal club were synonymous till he breathed his last. We have lost a very important member of our Football fraternity whose void shall never be filled for time immemorial. My heartfelt condolence to his family members and all supporters of East Bengal club. May his soul rest in peace”, Subrata Dutta, Senior Vice-President, AIFF and Chairman, League Committee also expressed his feelings on the demise of Swapan Ball.

Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF commented, “Swapan Ball who had been a part of Red & Gold Brigade for decades and his knowledge of Indian Football will be deeply missed.”
