CHANDIGARH: Minerva Academy FC will take on Gangtok Himalayan SC at the Sector-17 stadium in Chandigarh in a Second Division League match of round 6.

Currently stranded on the second position, 5 points behind Dempo SC with a match in hand, Minervans will look for nothing less than a win when they host the Sikkimese team in the return leg. In Gangtok, the teams shared the spoils after a thrilling 90 minutes, which ended up as a goalless stalemate.

Minerva AFC, so far have played five matches, having won two and drawn two. Gangtok Himalayans SC, meanwhile, are yet to register any win but have drawn three matches at home, losing twice. They are placed fifth in the table with 3 points.

Coach Surinder Singh is optimistic about the match tomorrow. “Our journey so far has been a roller coaster ride as we have not been consistent with our wins. We started with a draw in Imphal, then a win in Kolkata then went back to a draw with Gangtok. After that, we lost to Dempo at home and then a win against Lonestar Kashmir. So, we are looking to maintain consistency and when I say that, it means we are going for the win,” the coach said.

True to his words, a winning run is important for a team challenging for the title and that was something lacking in the Minervans that allowed Dempo SC to take the surge over them. Now that the team is beaming with confidence, maintaining consistency with the winning run will be the key element for the team.

The match is slated to kick off at 4 PM at the Sector 17 Ground in Chandigarh tomorrow.
