NEW DELHI: Kingfisher East Bengal and McDowell’s Mohun Bagan are touted as the heavyweights of Kolkata, and so are Mohammedan Sporting.

The Club, with numerous accolades in their kitty, got relegated from the I-League last season, but now they will be looking forward to get back to India’s top flight, as they get ready to take part in the Second Division League 2014/15.

Mohammedan Sporting clash against fellow domestic rivals United SC at the Kanchenjunga Krirangan in Siliguri. The match takes place on March 29.

MDSC have had ten weeks of hard training which started from 5th January, 2015, in preparation for the2nd Division League.

The Vivekananda Yubabharati Krirangan, the East Bengal Club Ground and the Mohun Bagan Club Ground have remained as their training venues, as the Club’s own ground in the Kolkata Maidan is still under construction.

The team, led by Head Coach Ananta Kumar Ghosh, played practice games against the Mizoram State Football Team and the West Bengal State Football Team for 35th National Games 2015, as well as Kingfisher East Bengal. Apart from these, MDSC played a tournament (Amta Sanhati Gold Cup 2015) in Amta, Howrah where they faced the likes of Peerless SC, Police AC and United SC during the preparatory period.

We have had very good preparations everything went according to our plan. Each of the players are motivated and eager to give their best on the field, and therefore we are hoping for a good show in the 2nd Division League,” said Ananta Kumar Ghosh.
